Anticipation

The anticipation has been building all year. Ever since Chris and I left Kilema last February, the kids and I have been looking forward to coming to Tanzania. In the fall, Sid and Adam decided that they would like to collect items to bring to the orphans at Malinga's home as well as here in Kilema. They chose toothbrushes, soccer balls, Frisbees and skipping ropes. Around November, they wrote to six toothbrush companies and asked for donations. They received refusal letters from all of them. Thus began the campaign that took our friends and colleagues by storm: the kids made a poster in which they told the story of the refusal letters and asked both Chris and I to take them to our workplaces. The toothbrushes started pouring in!! In addition, they asked Santa to bring soccer balls, skipping ropes and Frisbees. Although he did bring some of each, the biggest haul was from GranG who donated 10 professional soccer balls to the cause.
